All 3 flanges I've used so far were purchased this year so I wasn't really worried about debris being in there in the first place. Would be work checking if you haven’t yet.Yes I checked with a video on my phone, everything was completely clean. I'm starting to think the cylinder head port for the coolant is warped or something.Īre you sure there isn’t part of an old flange stuck in there? They often come off in pieces if they’re old. Are there any tricks I could do or other things I could try like RTV or some sort of sealant? I'm at a complete loss right now. I've put so much love into this car and she isn't loving me back. I'm starting to wonder if I should just give up and let the car leak or just sell it. I'm super close to just sending it to Audi and having them dealing with it, but I know that'll cost an arm and a leg and I'm certain it'll just leak again. I've literally made my issue worse than what I started with Now the car will just leak whenever, hot or cold. With the car running or turned off, coolant leaks from the bottom of the seal. Coolant isn't leaking anywhere else at the back other than the flange.

I have video evidence that this is the problem.

Even as a DIY I've spent WAYYYYY to much time and money into just one lousy little drizzle. No matter what I do (re-seat flange to make sure the o-ring hasn't pinched, position it slightly differently, etc.) I can't get it to stop leaking. I've attempted to fix the issue SIX times with 2 separate flange units and probably upwards of 5 gallons of G13 coolant (I know I could've saved the coolant when I drained it, I didn't think I'd be doing it again) I've spent the last 2 days STRAIGHT trying to figure out why the hell it won't seal properly. For the past couple months my car has been leaking coolant from where the flange meets the cylinder head, however only when it's cold.
